Vacation Day Eight

7/17/22

Family Vacation Day Eight: We attended church via zoom this morning then we went for a fairly easy walk in the woods – 4.8 miles.

Burnt Mill Loop Trail in Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
Rachel was trying to convince us that the paper sign on the tree was a trail closed sign. 🚫
The three hiking companions.
Patricia took the lead which meant she was on spider webs clearing duty. She grabbed a big branch to do the job!
Of course she caught another frog.
Perhaps it’s time to give up that huge branch for clearing spider webs.
Teeny tiny pine cones.
Wildflowers were a plenty.
Exploring.
More pretty flowers along the trail.
The river ran near us for the first half and the final third of the trail.
We found a spot to explore while we ate lunch. It was a little tricky getting down into the spot.
It was getting warm outside and Rachel discovered the large leafs worked as pretty good fans.
Or you could cool off this way!
Patricia relaxed away from the water (there could be water snakes ya know!).
Climbing is also encouraged.
And rock hopping.
The water was just barely cool.
Luna is not a fan of water but she sure wanted to join us!
Awesome climbing!
Luna made it across and didn’t get wet! She did get a little wet on the way back.
There were quite a few dogs loose on the trail today so Luna had to be on leash. She was still having fun!
Not far now. This was an easy trail.
Mom went ahead for a little while, but Luna ran to catch up and check on her. Good dog Luna!
We found a small cave!
Dad tried to pass through a crevasse in the cave.
He was making progress until. . .
He got stuck. Well not completely stuck, but he had to go back up.

Luna sent word back that he was fine and Lizzy was going to try.
There she goes. . .
A little further down . . .
She made it and instantly wanted to go caving for real!

Patricia and Rachel sped ahead of us to get back to the trailhead.

Another ladder.
Relaxing by the river. Can you guess whose shoes?
Do you see what I see 🍩. Perhaps we were just hungry.
End pic. . . a couple of them were hiding.
And old bridge at the trailhead.

Nice final view to take in for the road.
