Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

3/03/22 – 3/04/22

Mom and Dad wanted to test out their backpacking gear before they actually go on a big overnight hike. So they gathered all their gear and backpacks:

And they headed out to a trail in Jacksonville called the Pioneer Trail:

They dropped us off at school and headed to Jacksonville. By the time they arrived the morning sun was bright!
They really weren’t sure how far they were going to go but they had to get back to pick us up from school at 4pm.

They had company along the way:

A mountain in Florida?

They found a campsite to set up their tent and cook a meal:

No problem with the tent:

Time to try out the camp stove and freeze-dried meal:

Ready for lunch.
No too bad and not great either. But the camp stove worked fine!

We explored a bit:

Mom spotted something unusual and went to check it out:

Someone hid a painted rock. They left it there for the next people to enjoy.

There were some pretty flowers as well:

They got a call from the school that Lizzy wasn’t feeling well. Time to head back:

It was actually a bit of an uphill climb at the start going back:

They hurried back the 4 miles back to the trailhead.

A little tired from rushing back.

Time to go help Lizzy.

3/4/22

Mom and Dad’s actual anniversary:

Grandpa Ed and Grandma Joyce always send such nice cards!

Then they exchanged cards and gifts:

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
