Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

3/03/22 – 3/04/22

Mom and Dad wanted to test out their backpacking gear before they actually go on a big overnight hike. So they gathered all their gear and backpacks:

And they headed out to a trail in Jacksonville called the Pioneer Trail:

**They dropped us off at school and headed to Jacksonville. By the time they arrived the morning sun was bright!**

**They really weren’t sure how far they were going to go but they had to get back to pick us up from school at 4pm.**

They had company along the way:

They found a campsite to set up their tent and cook a meal:

No problem with the tent:

Time to try out the camp stove and freeze-dried meal:

**No too bad and not great either. But the camp stove worked fine!**

We explored a bit:

Mom spotted something unusual and went to check it out:

**Someone hid a painted rock. They left it there for the next people to enjoy.**

There were some pretty flowers as well:

They got a call from the school that Lizzy wasn’t feeling well. Time to head back:

It was actually a bit of an uphill climb at the start going back:

They hurried back the 4 miles back to the trailhead.

Time to go help Lizzy.
