As tradition has it in our family the Easter baskets arrive on Saturday:
Time to check out the contents of our baskets:
What would an Easter basket be without peeps!
There’s more!
Lots of our favorites!
We celebrated the true reason for Easter, the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday with a beautiful church service. After churchMom made some special devilled eggs for Easter:
Mom and Dad wanted to test out their backpacking gear before they actually go on a big overnight hike. So they gathered all their gear and backpacks:
And they headed out to a trail in Jacksonville called the Pioneer Trail:
They dropped us off at school and headed to Jacksonville. By the time they arrived the morning sun was bright! They really weren’t sure how far they were going to go but they had to get back to pick us up from school at 4pm.
They had company along the way:
A mountain in Florida?
They found a campsite to set up their tent and cook a meal:
No problem with the tent:
Time to try out the camp stove and freeze-dried meal:
Ready for lunch. No too bad and not great either. But the camp stove worked fine!
We explored a bit:
Mom spotted something unusual and went to check it out:
Someone hid a painted rock. They left it there for the next people to enjoy.
There were some pretty flowers as well:
They got a call from the school that Lizzy wasn’t feeling well. Time to head back:
It was actually a bit of an uphill climb at the start going back:
They hurried back the 4 miles back to the trailhead.
A little tired from rushing back.
Time to go help Lizzy.
3/4/22
Mom and Dad’s actual anniversary:
Grandpa Ed and Grandma Joyce always send such nice cards!
Rachel was sick and tested positive for Covid just before tryouts and although she was feeling better on the first day of tryouts she needed to wait another day before the school would let her come back (10 day waiting period). So mom contacted the coach and asked if there was anything we could do to have Rachel tryout. The coach agreed that we could video Rachel playing soccer (doing soccer drills) and send it to her. We were thrilled! So mom and Rachel went to the park and filmed Rachel playing. Rachel was able to go to school in time for the second day of tryouts so she was also able to tryout in person. After all that effort Rachel made the team!
Unfortunately, Westwood does not have a soccer field so Mom agreed to be a driver to help transport team players to all of the games! Congratulations Rachel ~ Go Whirlwinds!
