Family Vacation Day Eight (Thursday): Our last day in San Antonio, TX. We are ready to walk to the Alamo!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were sunflowers along the way:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And other pretty flowers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A glimpse at River Walk (we’ll do that later):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

On the way to th Alamo we happened upon a Juneteenth celebration in a park where actors were portraying the experiences of the enslaved people at the time of their emancipation. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The birds were very interactive here!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"

After the performance we went to the Alamo which was right behind the park stage:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There were several different buildings with artifacts and informative materials to keep us engaged for 3 hours! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The sacristy in the main church building:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A bible on display:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Alamo was well worth the visit!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After the Alamo we did a little shopping:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dad bought Mom a new ring.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We then stopped for lunch and treats and headed to the beautiful River Walk<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

River Walk!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

So pretty!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Lots of arches<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Lizzy still loves pigeons (her favorite bird):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Our next stop was the San Fernando Cathedral, one of the oldest active cathedrals in the United States.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It’s so nice to be able to go into the Cathedrals<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Beautiful stained glass!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The organ!!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Outside the cathedral<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Founders Monument:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Deciding which crown they would want<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After the Cathedral area we walked to the Historic Market Square (think Flea Market):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we stopped at a bakery<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our way “home” we took the River Walk again. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tunnel was cool:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Historic River walk is so nice:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost to our bridge exit:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spanish architecture was nice too:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There were some interesting things along the streets:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Finally this evening we walked to a restaurant for dinner. It was an action-packed last day in San Antonio!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we drove back home. That was a wonderful vacation and we are so happy we could take Luna Dog with us<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
