Family Vacation Day Six (Tuesday). Today Rachel drove us to Garner State Park in Concan, TX. We hiked the Old Baldy, Foshee, Bridges, and Crystal Cave Trails. First we took the trail up Mount Ol’ Baldy, a 500 foot steep and rocky climb. The views were awesome! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re ready!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which way? It’s a loop:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This plant literally has little saws on each blade!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Our view up the mountain!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Halfway there!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enjoying the views. . .almost at the top<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ripe fruit to sample. It was actually not bad tasting but the texture is slimy<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We made it to the top!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Amazing views:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We went back down the mountain and headed uphill again and saw where we had climbed. . .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount Ol’ Baldy!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Another beautiful view further up the trail<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are all having a great time:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Dad’s favorite type of hiking is rocky and with bouldering and a bonus with caves (still to come)! He sure got that today!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how we kept track of the trail. The trail blazes were yellow footprints on the rocks along the way<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crystal Cave!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Not a huge cave but it was cool<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lizzy is almost always the first one inside when we find a cave!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

She explored a little tunnel only to discover a huge nest of spiders!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\n

Caving is dirty. Time to hike to the next cave<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We found White Rock Cave<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel relaxed in the cool air (around 70 degrees) at the front of the cave<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We explored the cave:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Look what was directly over our heads in the cave! Mind you this is with a flash, the cave is very dark. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

They are all spiders!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

End of hike pic, but the adventure is not over. . .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peddle Boating on the Frio River!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mom loves peddle boats!<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We took turns peddling the boat. Mom and Dad peddled first:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turtles joined us<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We peddled Mom and Dad now:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rope swing!! Dad went first:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lizzy’s turn!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
