Family Vacation Day Eight: We attended church via zoom this morning then we went for a fairly easy walk in the woods – 4.8 miles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burnt Mill Loop Trail in Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Rachel was trying to convince us that the paper sign on the tree was a trail closed sign.\u00a0\"\ud83d\udeab\"<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The three hiking companions<\/strong>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Patricia took the lead which meant she was on spider webs clearing duty. She grabbed a big branch to do the job!<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Of course she caught another frog. <\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Perhaps it’s time to give up that huge branch for clearing spider webs.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Teeny tiny pine cones.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Wildflowers were a plenty.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Exploring.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
More pretty flowers along the trail.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The river ran near us for the first half and the final third of the trail.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We found a spot to explore while we ate lunch. It was a little tricky getting down into the spot<\/strong>. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
It was getting warm outside and Rachel discovered the large leafs worked as pretty good fans.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Or you could cool off this way!<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Patricia relaxed away from the water (there could be water snakes ya know!).<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Climbing is also encouraged.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
And rock hopping.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The water was just barely cool.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Luna is not a fan of water but she sure wanted to join us!<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Awesome climbing!<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Luna made it across and didn’t get wet! She did get a little wet on the way back.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
There were quite a few dogs loose on the trail today so Luna had to be on leash. She was still having fun!<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Not far now. This was an easy trail.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Mom went ahead for a little while, but Luna ran to catch up and check on her. Good dog Luna!<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We found a small cave!<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Dad tried to pass through a crevasse in the cave.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
He was making progress until. . .<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
He got stuck. Well not completely stuck, but he had to go back up.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luna sent word back that he was fine and Lizzy was going to try.<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
There she goes. . .<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A little further down . . .<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
She made it and instantly wanted to go caving for real!<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Patricia and Rachel sped ahead of us to get back to the trailhead.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
